A classic fruit cobbler gets a DAM Spice Co. upgrade with our Space Dust Seasoning — a sweet blend of honey, sugar, and cinnamon that takes this dessert completely out of this world. Use it in the fruit filling, the topping, or both!
Ingredients
For the fruit filling:
- 4 to 7 cups sliced fruit (peaches, apples, berries, or a mix)
- ½ to 1 cup sugar or brown sugar, optional
- 1 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice, optional
- 1 to 3 tablespoons cornstarch, optional
- 1 to 2 teaspoons Dam Spice Co. Space Dust Seasoning
For the cobbler topping:
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1½ sticks (12 tablespoons) butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1 teaspoon Space Dust Seasoning (optional, for extra sweetness)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and place a rack in the middle.
- Prepare the fruit: Wash, peel, and slice as needed. Taste and mix in sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and Space Dust as desired. The fruit should fill the baking dish halfway to three-quarters full.
- Transfer to the baking dish: Use an 8x8, 9x9, or 9-inch pie pan, leaving at least an inch of space at the top for the topping.
- Make the topping: Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Stir in the melted butter until a crumbly dough forms. If it doesn't hold together when pinched, add a little more flour.
- Top the cobbler: Pat handfuls of dough into ¼- to ½-inch thick disks and lay them over the fruit, overlapping for a cobblestone look. Crumble any extra topping over the surface.
- Bake: Place the cobbler on a baking sheet to catch drips. Bake 45 to 55 minutes, until the topping is golden at the edges and the fruit filling is bubbling.
- Cool and serve: Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm, at room temperature, or the next day. Cover and refrigerate leftovers.
Tips
- Best fruits: Peaches and apples are classic, but Space Dust shines on strawberry-rhubarb or mixed berry too.
- Serve with: A scoop of vanilla ice cream dusted with a pinch of Space Dust for a showstopper presentation.
- Make it extra: Sprinkle Space Dust over the topping right before baking for a golden, sparkling crust.
